Privacy Policy
Last updated: 15 July 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how SwiftConvert ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use the website at swift-convert.net (the "Service"). By using the Service you agree to the practices described here.
1. Files you upload
Document conversions (PDF ↔ Word, Excel → PDF, PDF → Excel, PDF compression) run on our conversion server through a third-party provider, CloudConvert (cloudconvert.com). When you upload a file:
- The file is transmitted over HTTPS to our PHP proxy at
/api/convert.php. - Our proxy forwards it to CloudConvert, which performs the conversion and returns the result.
- CloudConvert stores uploaded files only for the duration of the conversion and deletes them automatically after a short retention window.
- We do not store your converted files on our servers. Once the converted file is streamed back to your browser, it is gone from our infrastructure.
Image conversion and image compression run entirely in your browser via the Canvas API — those files never leave your device.
2. Information we collect automatically
- Server logs: IP address, user-agent, request URL, response status, and timestamp — retained for up to 30 days for abuse prevention and diagnostics.
- Cookies: We use one localStorage item (
sc_consent_v1) to remember your cookie preferences. If you accept ads, Google AdSense sets additional cookies (see section 4).
3. What we never collect
- Account credentials (we have no accounts).
- Names, email addresses, or contact details — unless you send them via the contact form.
- The contents of your converted files, beyond what is required for the conversion itself.
4. Third-party services
- CloudConvert — performs document conversion. Subject to CloudConvert's privacy terms.
- Google AdSense — displays advertisements only after you grant consent via our cookie banner. Google may set cookies and use them for ad personalisation, in line with their privacy policy.
- Google Fonts — fonts are loaded from Google's CDN. Your browser sends a request to Google containing your IP address; no other data is shared.
5. Your rights (GDPR & CCPA)
If you are in the EU/UK you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict processing of, port, and object to processing of your personal data. If you are in California you have similar rights under the CCPA. We do not sell personal data.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us via the contact page. We respond within 30 days.
6. Children's privacy
The Service is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
7. Security
Files are transmitted over HTTPS. The CloudConvert API key is stored server-side and never sent to the browser. Server logs are deleted after 30 days.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. The "Last updated" date at the top will always reflect the current version. Continued use of the Service after a change constitutes acceptance.
